Chief Justice declares treaty 'worthless' and a 'simple nullity'
On the 17th Oct 1877.
The Treaty of Waitangi was said that it was ‘worthless’ because it had been signed ‘between a civilised nation and a group of savages’ who were not capable of signing a treaty.
The judge didn't take notice that the land belonged to the Maori people.
